The first time I had ever heard of a float tank I though it was completely insane. The only thing I could think was why would someone want to be in an enclosed tank with no sound, no lights and just salt water. But being who I am the girl that has oils diffusing, salt lights glowing in all the bedrooms at night and smudging our house with sage to clear negative energies, believes that life needs prayer and meditation to grow and stay healthy I had to do my research.
Here is a brief history on the float tank:
It was developed in 1950 by an American Neurophysiologist Professor Dr. John C Lilly. Dr. Lilly and his colleague Dr. Jay T Shurley were researching the origins of conscious activity within the brain.
Because they wanted to know if the brain needed external stimuli to keep its conscious states active, they created the first tank that would restrict environmental stimulation as much as possible. This first tank was suspended upright and completely submerged, with their head covered by...
The holidays came and went and with it brought tons of goodies and to be honest this year we just couldn't seem to say NO. There was cookies and chocolates given as gifts, yummy cranberry sauce and desserts with Christmas dinner and pretty much any dinner we had around the holidays. With all this yummy food came lots of sugar, something we don't eat much of on a regular basis in our house. Consuming white processed sugar can increase your susceptibility of getting a cold or the flu.
Guess what else the holidays brought us, a small 48 hour stomach flu...yup you got it we let the nasty bug creep right into our home. For me this has been the first stomach flu I have gotten in over 25 years and the very first one ever for our three year old son. Let's just say vomiting was a whole new thing for him and he really had no idea what was happening.
Now normally the nasty bug would have not made it but because we all had way too much sugar we really weakened our immune systems. Sugar can really pl...
As the final days of 2017 come I sit here and think about all the blessings that have happened. Yes there was a few hard times this year and truthfully those hard times were also blessings of lessons learned.
I didn't accomplish everything I wanted this year but that is ok with me because in all honesty I spent most of the year watching my son grow and spent most days making memories with Ryan and our son Liam. We are a family that craves to be outside in nature so most days we were out of the house taking in the sunshine and hiking in the beautiful forests near us. Liam has a collection of beautiful rocks he has collected on our little nature adventures and has lined his bedroom window sill with them.
Today is the Winter Solstice and we are so ready for more adventures this time in the snow. It has been a long time since we have had snow on Christmas day where we are but this year it looks like it just may happen. Let me tell you how exciting that is going to be we have our snowman mak...
It’s that time of year again cold and flu season is here. Unless you plan on hibernating at home and not having any contact with anyone chances are you will encounter these nasty bugs at some point during the season. So taking preventative measures and boosting your immune system is the best way you can help prevent a cold or flu, or at least help control the severity of it.
I’ve got some great tips on boosting yours and your family’s immune system and helping prevent a cold or the flu from catching up to you.
Now we all know the first step in preventing cold and flu is to wash our hands, especially when we have been out in public places. Did you know that 30 seconds of hand-washing can have a 58% bacteria reduction on the hands?
One of the first things I do this time of year is make sure I am stocked up on immune boosting supplements, and stock the fridge with healthy foods.
My first go too is always probiotics, these amazing good bacteria helps you d...
